Finding The Right Child Custody Plan For Your Family
As a parent, there is nothing more important to you than the safety and well-being of your child. When you are faced with a situation where your family is changing, you want to be sure that you are able to remain essentially involved in your child’s life.
I am Elmer Saravia, founding attorney of Saravia Law, P.L.L.C.. As your attorney, I will work with you to find a child custody approach that keeps the best interests of your child in mind. I work hard to resolve custody and other types of family law cases prior to trial, but if we need to go to court to protect your rights, I am not afraid to take your case to trial. I want you to feel confident that you will have the opportunity to seek the agreement that is best for the future of your family.
Understanding Massachusetts’s Child Custody Laws
Courts take a case-by-case approach to determining custody when the matter cannot be resolved prior to trial. Some of the various factors that the courts will look at include, but are not limited to:
- The ability of the parents to care for the child
- The environment that the parent will provide for the child
- The relationship that the child has with each parent
- Schooling or other concerns
It is very important to take child custody cases seriously, as it can be very hard to make changes once a ruling has been issued in your case. Courts often require a significant change in circumstances to revisit an agreement.
Additionally, custody often plays a significant role in child support determinations. Decisions that you make at this stage will factor into the amount of support that may be awarded. Be sure that you understand all of your rights and obligations before making any agreements with your co-parent.
